The Soil Moisture Sensor Module is an easy-to-use sensor designed to measure the moisture content of soil. It provides both analog and digital outputs, making it ideal for automatic plant watering systems, smart agriculture, gardening, and IoT-based environmental monitoring projects.
The Soil Moisture Sensor Module consists of a corrosion-resistant probe (or standard conductive probe, depending on the model) and a comparator module that detects the moisture level in the soil by measuring electrical conductivity. As soil moisture increases, conductivity between the probes rises, allowing the sensor to determine the moisture content.
The module features both analog (AO) and digital (DO) outputs. The analog output provides continuous moisture readings, while the digital output is activated when the moisture level crosses a user-defined threshold set using the onboard potentiometer. The module is widely compatible with Arduino, ESP8266, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi (with an ADC), and other microcontroller platforms.
It is commonly used in automatic irrigation systems, greenhouse monitoring, smart farming, weather stations, and educational electronics projects.
